The Ceramic Flap Disc is the top-tier flap disc in our angle grinder lineup — built for fabricators working on substrates that destroy lower-tier abrasives. Self-sharpening ceramic grain micro-fractures progressively under load, exposing fresh cutting edges and outlasting calcined aluminum oxide alternatives 2× to 3× at the same grit. The cool cut characteristic is the reason this disc is specified for stainless steel, where conventional abrasives discolor or distort the substrate from grinding heat.
72 overlapping ceramic flaps are bonded to a rigid fiberglass plate, with a Type 27 (flat) or Type 29 (10° conical) profile. Resin-over-resin bond is engineered for the higher arc temperatures and pressures of stainless steel and high-nickel alloy work. The flap construction continuously exposes fresh grain as outer flaps wear — no glazing, consistent cut from start to end of disc life.
